Let’s Get Moving Award winners
We are incredibly proud of our amazing PE Department at Martin High School, who won the prestigious ‘Let’s Get Moving School Award’ at the recent Charnwood Sports Awards.Held at Burleigh Court in Loughborough – and hosted by Charnwood Borough Council – the event celebrated the dedication of individuals, workplaces and schools that go above and beyond to promote health and wellbeing across the county.
The award is a testament to our commitment to delivering an enriching PE curriculum that, over the past 12 months and beyond, has empowered learners to thrive and excel. The 2023–24 academic year was a resounding success for our PE Department, who provided a wide variety of sporting activities and initiatives that supported classroom learning and allowed learners to develop holistically.
Across the year, 450 learners enjoyed the opportunity to participate in extracurricular sporting fixtures, a notable highlight being the Key Stage Four Girls’ Football, who became County Champions in May – triumphing in the showpiece final at Leicester City’s Seagrave Training Ground.
The judges also recognised our efforts to promote inclusivity within our PE curriculum. Through our positive engagement with the Football Association’s ‘Let Girls Play Campaign’ and participation in the annual ‘Biggest Ever Football Session,’ we have ensured that all girls enjoy equal opportunities to engage in football. As a result, we were featured as a case study to promote this year’s campaign, won the Let Girls Play Sport Award 2024, and were honoured at the Barclays Girls’ Football School Partnership Awards at St George’s Park.
In June, we were visited by Ofsted, who were full of praise for our PE Department. They celebrated the curriculum set up, delivery and the opportunities available to learners. This work was a key factor in Martin High achieving its best set of CNAT Sports results in the summer.
These achievements are a testament to the dedication, passion and teamwork displayed daily by our PE teachers, who consistently go above and beyond to foster a culture of sporting success and excellence at Martin High.
