Building resilience through outdoor learning
This term, learners at Martin High School have enjoyed participating in a brilliant new Forest School initiative. The project – which has run for six weeks and focuses on working with vulnerable children – is designed to promote outdoor learning and strengthen learners’ holistic development.
As part of the project, the 15 regular attendees have enjoyed making a campfire and using tools to construct their own shelters. These hands-on activities have not only been fun but have also provided valuable life skills and a sense of accomplishment.
The project has been an enormous success and has gone a long way in building resilience and promoting strong character development in those who have taken part. Consequently, plans are already underway to repeat this project in the near future.
The success of this initiative is a testament to the power of outdoor learning in fostering resilience, character, and a love for nature among our young learners.
