Martin High School Christmas Fayre Raises £809.16 for Student Council

On Saturday, 30th November, Martin High School once again opened its doors for the much-anticipated Christmas Fayre, and what a day it was! Running from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM in the Sports Hall, the event drew crowds of families, friends, and members of the local community, all eager to soak up the festive atmosphere and support a great cause.

This year’s fayre was the most successful yet, raising an incredible £809.16 for the Student Council, ensuring that every penny goes straight back into enriching the school community.

The Sports Hall was transformed into a bustling marketplace, featuring 30 local business stalls offering a fantastic array of products—from candles, sweets, macaroons, pies, and crystals to Tropic skincare, personalized items, jewelry, laser-cut gifts, resin creations, glass-fused ornaments, cards and art, 3D-printed items, crochet pieces, felt decorations, and even a special appearance from The Wildlife Trust.

Visitors were spoiled for choice with student-run stalls, which proved to be a huge hit. Highlights included:

  • Tombola – with prizes generously donated by local businesses.
  • Bottle Tombola – always a crowd favourite.
  • Teddy Tombola – perfect for younger visitors.
  • A Date with a Book – the mystery book stall where you “don’t judge a book by its cover.”
  • Refreshments – hot tea, coffee, and squash to keep everyone warm and cheerful.

Adding to the festive magic, Mrs Shaw and our talented learners provided live Christmas music, creating a joyful soundtrack for the day. Children enjoyed a craft area where they could make their own decorations and create reindeer food, and the highlight for many was a visit to Santa and his cheerful elf in the grotto, making the day truly unforgettable.

Entry was free, and while some stalls accepted card payments, visitors were encouraged to bring cash for student-run stalls. The combination of shopping, games, music, and festive fun made for a truly special day.

The Student Council expressed heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended and contributed, emphasising that the money raised will fund projects aimed at improving student experiences and opportunities throughout the year.

With two years of success behind them and this year setting a new benchmark, Martin High School is already looking forward to making next year’s fayre even bigger and better.
