Drama Students Experience Blood Brothers Live

On Wednesday 29th January, our Key Stage 4 Drama students travelled to the Belgrade Theatre in Coventry to watch the acclaimed production of Blood Brothers. As this is one of the set texts in the GCSE Drama curriculum, the visit gave students a valuable chance to see the performance brought to life on stage.

The trip helped deepen their understanding of key elements such as performance style, characterisation, staging and the social themes explored in the play. Experiences like this also support both the written and practical parts of the course, giving students a clearer sense of how a professional theatre communicates meaning to an audience.

For many pupils, this was their first time seeing a large‑scale production, which made the visit even more memorable. Several students shared their reactions afterwards, saying:

  • “I loved all parts about it.”
  • “I love the way the stage changed.”
  • “It was my first time at the theatre, it was so cool.”

The trip also helped build students’ confidence and strengthened their connection with the wider arts community. Opportunities like this play an important part in our commitment to offering high‑quality arts education and broad cultural experiences for all learners.

It was a fantastic day that will stay with our students for a long time and will support their creative development as they continue their GCSE Drama journey.
