AT OUR SCHOOL... we believe with A PROUDER WAY learners can achieve anything. Through promoting the values expressed here our young people not only succeed academically but also socially, spiritually and culturally.
Martin High has a strong community ethos where each learner is part of a caring school community. What this means is that learners are able to access layers of support for both their academic and pastoral needs. We recognise that starting a new school can be both exciting and a little daunting but our transition programme ensures that learners feel confident in their school environment at the start of the academic year.
We pride ourselves in knowing every individual; which helps to ensure that everyone is successful and happy during their time at MHS. Central to our beliefs as a school, every learner has the right to good quality teaching; an aspirational environment, educational opportunities and a close knit school community here a sense of ‘real’ belonging leads to everyone achieving. Here at MHS we want your five years with us to be challenging, exciting and filled with achievement. We look forward to meeting you all and welcoming you into our school.
We are constantly looking to review and improve our parent-teacher communication and collaboration at the Martin High School. We truly believe that we can make the difference to your child’s progress by working closely together with you as a parent or carer.
At the Martin High School we try to keep parents, pupils and anyone interested in the school well informed. We hope you find everything you need.

Grooming is when someone befriends and builds an emotional connection with a child to gain their trust for the purposes of sexual abuse or exploitation.
They can do this both offline and online, with technology and the Internet being commonly used to initiate and facilitate contact with a child. Gaining victims’ trust is a key part of engaging them in sexually explicit behaviour. The groomer, who can either be a stranger or someone a child already knows, tends to use tactics such as engaging in small talk or exchanging personal information with the child about hobbies and relationships, using flattery and gifts to build a rapport or even making threats and intimidation to gain control. This can take place over varying periods of time – from a few days to several years. It is illegal in the UK for an adult to send a sexual message to a child.
